QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • WHAT IS THE WEIGHT CAP?

This bedpan has a 47.3 fluid ounce weight capacity.

  • How do u use this?

    1. Preparation

    - Warm it up: Plastic can be cold and off-putting. Run it under warm water and dry it quickly before use.

    - Use a barrier: Lightly dusting the rim with baby powder or using a small amount of vegetable oil can prevent the skin from sticking to the plastic.

    - Privacy first: Ensure the room is private and place a waterproof pad (chux) under the user’s hips to catch any accidental splashes.

    2. Positioning

The "fracture" style is tapered. The thin, flat end is the part that goes under the user's back/tailbone.

    - If the user can move: Ask them to flex their knees and lift their hips slightly. Slide the flat end of the pan under the buttocks.

    - If the user cannot move: Gently roll the person onto their side. Position the bed pan against their buttocks, then gently roll them back onto the pan.

    3. Alignment

    - Ensure the pan is centered. The handle should be facing toward the foot of the bed.

    - For the best results and comfort, the user's "output" should be directed toward the deeper part of the pan (the front).

    4. Elevation

    - If the user’s condition allows, raise the head of the bed to a semi-sitting position. This uses gravity to help the process and makes it much more comfortable for the user.

    5. Removal and Cleaning

    - Hold the pan firmly while the user rolls off or lifts their hips.

    - Cover the pan immediately to prevent odors or spills.

    - Cleaning: Empty into a toilet. Clean with warm, soapy water or a disinfectant. It’s designed to handle standard household cleaners, but avoid abrasive pads that could scratch the surface and harbor bacteria.
