Maybe the light therapy part of the lamp is fine, but as a whole this lamp is not great for bedside use. In particular, the actual light box component of the lamp is connected to the post by a hinge joint that you loosen to move and tighten to keep in place, but it often does not want to hold the angle--even when the lamp was brand new. You can tell this component will wear out if you move it around more than a few times, and after that the lamp will be useless.
The added features that attracted me to this lamp are also problematic. The buttons on the post of the lamp are difficult to use - there is no texture on them, or labels, so you have to pull out the manual anytime you want to set the alarm or whatever. The light on/off/dim keys on the base of the lamp are highly sensitive when you accidentally brush over them, but somehow also not sensitive when you actually try to push a button. The clock/temperature display is too bright to leave on at night. The beeps and alarm sounds are incredibly loud--shockingly loud--and apparently there is no volume control. It plays Auld Lang Syne when it resets after unplugging; this is painfully out of tune. Would not buy again. I will just go for a basic 10K lux light box instead.
