I have the older version of this bench without the grab bar. I needed to replace it because the adjustment screws became brittle with age and cracked/broke. The screws are unavailible as a replacement part so I bought the new bench. When shipped the screws and posts and grab bar are installed in recesses under the bench. The recess required for the grab bar is quite large and as a result some of the internal bracing of the bench has been omitted to accomodate it. This makes the bench less sturdy. Now I noted that the description stated 300 lbs maximum, and I am over that, but the old style was rated higher and holds up fine for my weight so I bought the new one. It does not hold up. It started to bend in the middle. So I robbed the screws from it and installed on my old bench. Like evereything else, it is just not made as well. They could not leave a good product alone and in "improving it" made an inferior product. I do not like the grab bar, it crowds me on the bench anyway.
Im happy with my Bath stool. It fits in my tub. And I had to really look to find one that fit my tub. Its a decent size to sit on. I had broken my leg. So all I needed it is for short term to get in & out if the tub. I sat on stool dryed off put my legs over side of the tub to stand up outside the tub. To sit to wash my feet. As it is hard to wash the foot you are standing on. When you are not suppose to but weight on the other foot.
My mother is 82 and is still independent, but she wanted/needed assistance in taking a shower sitting down...it's sturdy, dependable, and made very well. It fits like a glove. Of course I'll buy and recommend this product to anyone.
Very nice and simple to assemble. High quality.
